Eseul de mai jos a fost scris în 2003 şi a fost ataşat dosarului de admitere la masterat. Pe vremea aceea eram în Chonburi, dar nu peste mult timp m-am mutat în Bangkok, unde timp de doi ani, am studiat un masterat în English Language and Literatures la Assumption University, prima universitate internaţională din Thailanda.
Dreams and Objectives
“I didn’t know that I wanted to be a teacher until I attended the Teacher Training Course in the second year of my university studies. I found myself in front of a high school class teaching English and history, enjoying every minute of it. It was a new, a different feeling that was running throw my veins, a feeling that was electrocuting all my brain cells. I felt I had just resurrected.
From that point on I had a precise purpose guiding my student life: to master the art of teaching. It wasn’t easy, and it still isn’t easy to try to achieve perfection. But as every day passes by, as every lesson reaches its end, I get closer and closer.
Of course that only self-study and a job as a teacher won’t get me too close to my goal. It’s a crucial part of the equation, but it’s simply not enough.
I believe that all teachers who take their job seriously need to deepen their knowledge and continually sharpen their mind. The best way to do this is by enrolling in a master program and then in a doctoral one.
I think that after almost three years of teaching English in Eastern Europe (Romania) and Asia (Thailand), the time has come for me to move on. It’s not that I have the feeling that I’m stagnating, but I realized that I will be a teacher for a long time. So, I need to improve.
No matter if I teach in my native country or anywhere else around the world, I would like to stand on the podiums of respectable universities or in front of students from good schools.
I have already shaped in my mind the person that I want and have to be in the near future. And that person has his place in a sophisticated intellectual environment. The only way to get there is to continue my education, to go on studying a Master of Arts, to write a good thesis at the end of the program and move further on the teacher’s hierarchy.
An M.A. on my C.V. will give me the possibility to teach for different institutions around the world, thus the chance of travelling and experiencing new civilizations is greater.
It will also give me the chance to move even further in my career and enroll in a doctoral program.
Things are not made to be easy, but they are made to be conquered. And now it’s my turn.”
După ce am studiat “piaţa” cu mare atenţie, luna aceasta am decis să-mi depun dosarul de admitere la doctorat: am optata pentru un Ph.D. in Political Science, oferit de Institue of International Studies de la Ramkhamhaeng University din Bangkok.
